Parental/Guardian Consent for Student Digital Learning Platform
Level Up Classroom Inc.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your child's school uses educational technology platforms operated by Level Up Classroom Inc. to support learning. Before your child can use these platforms, we need your informed consent as required by Ontario privacy legislation.
Platforms
- Level Up Classroom (levelupclassroom.com) — Classroom management, gradebook, attendance, student engagement, and AI-assisted report generation.
- OSSLTPrep (ossltprep.com) — Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test practice with auto-grading, AI essay feedback, and Literacy Dojo exercises.
Information Collected
- Student name (or anonymous nickname in Privacy Mode)
- Student number (for school identification only)
- Email address (optional — for student portal access)
- Academic data — grades, assessment scores, learning skills, attendance records, report comments
- Ontario Education Number (OEN) (optional — at school board/admin discretion for SIS integration only)
- OSSLT practice data — test responses, scores, written work, AI-generated feedback
- Parent/guardian contact information (optional — name, email, phone)
Information NOT Collected
- Student home address or phone number
- Location data, browser history, or device identifiers
- Camera, microphone, or biometric data
- Contact lists, personal files, or social media profiles
- Payment information from students
How Data is Protected
- All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256)
- Data is stored in Canada (Google Cloud, Toronto region) and subject to Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA, MFIPPA)
- No student data is sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing
- AI-powered features (report comments, essay grading) may include the student's first name only — no last names, student numbers, or other identifying information are sent to the AI providers (Anthropic for Level Up Classroom; OpenAI for OSSLTPrep — both US-based). Neither provider retains API data or uses it for AI model training.
- Students retain ownership of all content they create
Your Rights
- Access: Request a copy of all data collected about your child
- Correction: Request corrections to inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request complete deletion of your child's data at any time
- Opt-out of AI: Request that AI features not be used for your child's data. The teacher can disable AI-generated content for individual students within the platform.
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time by notifying the teacher, school, or Level Up Classroom Inc. directly
